‘Loop de Loop’ Clip
On a sleep-deprived high and surrounded by the glory of Nimbin and Byron Bay, Bec and her suite undertook the joyous task of shooting a film clip to ‘Loop de Loop’. The track was also recorded at 301 Studios Byron Bay by Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray) and is track two of the Debut EP ‘At First Sight’. It features Willy Manukia (far left) from the Spacifix, award winning funk/soul/reggae band from New Zealand. Tau Manukia (front centre) and Imraan Paleker (mid centre) also from the band also featured in producing and playing guitar (respectively).
Debut EP Launch
On Wednesday October 27 Bec Laughton launched her Debut EP “At First Sight”. The launch was held at the Fort in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane and filled to maximum capacity. Smashing out soul chops on the recording and live are Damon “DJ” Joel (drums), Basoki (bass), Imraan Paleker (guitar), Gavin Manikus (keys), Paul Lozana aka “Paulie Paulie” (percussion), Cassie Godbold (sax), Bob Schultz/Jose Vides (trumpet), Laisiasa Utovou & Miss Rachel Everett-Jones (backing vocals). Willy & Tau Manukia from renowned New Zealand funk/soul/reggae band Spacifix both featured and produced. Supporting at the launch were acoustic soul sensations Mark Lowndes and the ‘I Am’ trio as well as hip-hop dance crew Zennith. // Watch the launch R&B Sample Medley
At First Sight …
Bec Laughton’s debut EP ‘At First Sight’ was recorded at 301 Studios Byron Bay with producer/engineer Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray) then sent off to Tom Coyne (Maxwell) at Sterling Sound in New York for mastering. It features two Q Song recognised tracks, “Holy Love” and “Sensation”. The incredible 1950′s pop art was penned by mastermind and set designer Josh Macintosh. The recording features Bec’s too hot-to-trot 10-piece suite, some of Australia’s finest. Selling like hot cakes the CD sold out even before the ‘At First Sight’ National Tour! Recording DEBUT EP @ 301 Byron Bay
With Anthony Lycenko (Pete Murray) by her side as engineer/producer, Bec Laughton hit up the recording studios at 301 in Byron Bay mid July. With a stellar line-up of musicians and co-producers Tau Manukia and Willy Angelo from the New Zealand phenomenon the Spacifix, the recording is sure to be soul pleasing. With the groove of Maxwell and the folk-like lyricism of British sensation Adele, the CD aims to melt and stimulate you simultaneously.

Finalist! Q Song Awards 2010
After winning a 2009 Q Song award for Holy Love, Bec Laughton is back in the finals again for 2010!
Over the past five years, the awards have attracted more than 8000 entries with Queensland songwriters continuing to impress judges with the high quality of entries. Judges from around the country have selected four finalists in each category, with the winners announced at the gala awards night on Tuesday, August 10 (Ekka holiday eve) at one of Brisbane’s finest venues, The Tivoli Theatre. The awards night will be hosted by 612 ABC Brisbane’s Richard Fidler and triple j’s Sarah Howells with performances on the night from a host of established and emerging songwriters including the legendary Kev Carmody.
